Directions to Amherst Lodge, Lyme Regis

If you come by train, get off at Axminster station and jump in a taxi (the fare is usually about £3.50).

Directions to Amherst Lodge by Car:  

FROM LONDON and the M3:

Take M3 to A303.

Continue along A303 until the A358 turn off (signed to Chard).

Follow A358 to Axminster. See below for the rest of the instructions.

FROM BIRMINGHAM and the M5:

Take the M5 south and turn off at Junction 25. Take the A358 to Chard & Axminster.

FROM THE SOUTH COAST :

Get onto the A35. As you near the area, disregard any signs to Lyme Regis other than the B3165 turning at the Hunter’s Lodge Pub, (this turning is opposite a ‘Jet’ garage). Take this turning and then follow the directions given in the middle of the paragraph below.

FROM AXMINSTER:

At Axminster follow signs to Lyme Regis.

You will come to a T-junction with the A35. Turn left here (still signed to Lyme Regis).

Shortly you come to a garage on your left and the Hunter’s Lodge Pub on your right. Take the right hand turning immediately before ‘Hunter’s Lodge’ Pub (again this is signed to Lyme Regis, it is the B3165).

Continue down this road for 1.3 miles and then take the right hand turning down a steep narrow lane signed to ‘Cathole’ (it is also signed to Amherst Lodge which is us). Follow the lane round to the right and you will see Amherst Lodge on the right hand side.

(Note this last lane to Cathole and Amherst Lodge is easy to miss. If you arrive in Uplyme then you have gone too far).

These directions should bring you safely to Amherst but just in case you should get lost on the way, the telephone number at Amherst is 01297 442 773. If you call from the local area, you only need to dial 442 773.
