Fisherman's Cottage is a two storey traditional stone cottage which sleeps up to five people. It is usually offered by the week from Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning but short breaks are sometimes also available.

The cottage is situated in the main courtyard opposite the farmhouse with its own private garden and pond. The pond can be emptied by the owners if necessary, (if younger children are staying in the cottage for example).Snug End.gif (14275 bytes)

On the first floor of the cottage there is a twin bedroom, a single bedroom and a loo. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom, separate bathroom with loo, sitting room and kitchen.

The kitchen is fully equipped including a microwave oven (as well as a conventional electric oven) and a washing machine. The sitting room has a sofa, two armchairs, dining room table, TV and video, and a fireplace with a wood burning fire. Patio doors lead out of the sitting room onto a patio (with BBQ) within the private garden. Beyond the patio, the garden is laid to lawn with trees and a small pond.

The cottage is warmed by night storage heating, portable electric heaters and the wood burning stove. Visitors to the cottage are charged (at cost) for electricity and any logs used during their stay.

Pets are only accepted in the cottage by prior arrangement. Visitors to the cottage are welcome to enjoy the other facilities offered at Amherst. However it should be noted that for safety reasons, young children are not allowed to 'roam' unaccompanied.

Finally a word of warning! If you have read about the lodge accommodation and then come straight through to this page then please note that these are two different types of accommodation. The lodge is smarter and generally chosen by people staying for two or three nights who want their cooking, cleaning and so forth done by the staff. The self-catering accommodation is generally chosen by groups of people staying for longer, who want to be more independent and are happy to fend for themselves.
