For trout fishermen across the UK, the Troutmasters Competition (run by Trout Fisherman Magazine, sister paper to Trout and Salmon Magazine) is a great opportunity to compete without the pressure normally associated with competitive fly fishing.
A number of waters the length and breadth of the UK are designated as official
Troutmasters waters and anyone who fishes there and lands a decent sized trout can enter
that fish into the competition. Every month, the anglers who catch the largest three fish
from each of the designated Troutmasters Waters will win a badge and the captor of the
largest trout will automatically qualify for the annual final at that water. The winner of
the final goes on to compete against the winners of other local finals to find the overall
Troutmaster winner. There is also an award for the most consistent trout angler of the
year.

Just go and fish at one of the designated waters and enter any large trout that you catch into the competition. Fishery rules must be observed and generally there is no charge to enter a trout into the competition. Local and national finals may incur the usual day ticket charges.
It is organized and overseen by Trout Fisherman Magazine.
