Dorset Cyclists Network was founded in East Dorset several years ago by a group of dedicated individuals to champion cyclists' rights and encourage the development of cycling as an opportunity for everyone.

So if you're a visiting cycle tourist, if you've brought your bikes along on the car and are wondering where to go, if you're thinking of bringing a bike next time or if you need a good bike shop then why not contact your local DCN representative?

For a number of years DCN ran successfull campaigns in East Dorset while this side of the county had no branches at all. In September 2000 all that changed with the creation of the Lyme Regis and Bridport DCN branch.

We have a diverse membership representing cyclists and cycle users of all types and abilities and we're LOCAL - so there will always be someone to help. Our members ride solo cycles, tandems and some even cycle up the Cobb road towing babies in cycle trailers so they do know where its good to cycle (and where its not so good).

And if you're moving around the county we can put you in touch with our local representatives all over Dorset.

If you're visiting and want a guided cycle tour simply call, fax or email and we will arrange it for you. All that we ask is that you give us a little notice if possible and that you make a small donation to DCN to help us to continue providing a service for cyclists throughout Dorset. If there's any other way we can help such as suggesting traffic free routes for example do get in touch.

If you are a regular cycling visitor to Lyme Regis you could even go the whole way and join us! For a trifling £5.00 a year you get our lively and informative newsletter sent to you regularly, cycle insurance, discounts at many of Dorset's cycle shops as well as being part of an organization that is affiliated to Sustrans and the Cyclists' Touring Club.

When we're not out on guided tours, DCN members are busy campaigning for better access for cyclists, improved cycling facility provision and a better deal for cyclists generally. As time goes by we hope Lyme Regis will continue to develop as a popular destination for cyclists on holiday and we shall certainly be playing our part in making that happen.
